In the last article from the Affiliate Marketing Guide we started the process of finding the right keywords, and then developing a strategy around them to drive the traffic we want to our site. This article provides you with the next 3 steps to get the most return on your time invested.
- Set daily routine. Bet you did not think that would be the first step I would mention! But, I am deadly serious. I have said it before that the work you do around keywords will be one of the most important pieces of work you do, and it will never be over! You will build upon this brick by brick for as long as you are involved in an online business. Set aside time each day to do something that will improve your performance with keywords. I am very fond of the reminder from Warren Buffet that there are only 5 or 6 things in any business that you must monitor and manage continuously to ensure its success, and your work around keywords most certainly falls into this category. So, make it an integral part of every day!
- Optimise your site. When I talk about your site hear, I also mean your blog, if that is what you are using. What I mean by optimising is that each page on your site should be dedicated to one keyword. Think of it like the contents of a book. The title of the book is the primary keyword you have chosen to focus on, and the title of each chapter is the list of other keywords that you are working on. So, on the first page you ensure that the content is maximising your primary keyword, and then each subsequent page majors on one keyword per page. Word of warning – don’t go mad on using the keyword all over the place as this will make it look and sound unnatural. Your content is a conversation and should flow freely from you. “Stuffing” your content with continuous barrage of keywords will ensure that your reader will realise that your objective is not to help them, but simply use the article as a vehicle for keyword optimising, and they will feel used. So, be natural and conversational.
- Decide on your channels to market. What I mean by this is to decide what methods of communication you are going to utilise. There are many forms and channels – article writing, blog posting, commenting of forums, videos, You Tube, social media and others. You decide which you feel most comfortable with, and then work on those. You can always broaden your reach as you grow and develop but don’t try to do them all straight off as you will spread yourself too thin, which will also probably result in you not getting the results you want and be very disheartening. So, pick 2 or 3 and go for those.
That’s it for this section of the Affiliate Marketing Guide – take these steps and then keep a lookout for Part 6!
